🕷️ Abamectine for Spider Mite Control — Insecticide & Acaricide
What is Abamectin?
Abamectin is a broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide derived from Streptomyces avermitilis, a naturally occurring soil bacterium. It’s especially effective against spider mites, leafminers, thrips, and other sucking pests.
Key Features:
Mode of Action: Abamectin disrupts nerve signals in mites and insects, causing paralysis and death.
Target Pests: Spider mites (Tetranychus spp.), red mites, leafminers, thrips, psyllids
Contact & Stomach Poison: It works via contact and ingestion. Mites stop feeding shortly after exposure.
Effectiveness Against Spider Mites:
✅ Highly effective at low concentrations
✅ Controls both immature and adult stages
✅ Works well in rotation with other acaricides to prevent resistance
✅ Often used on vegetables, fruits, flowers, and ornamentals
Safety & Handling:
Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): Usually 7–14 days (crop-dependent)
Toxicity: Low for mammals, but toxic to fish and bees — apply responsibly
Protective Gear: Use gloves, mask, and avoid skin or eye contact
Re-entry Period (REI): Typically 12–24 hours after spraying.
